Coins & Notes

The Dissertation topic has been declared for MS students. I have to explore socio-historical impact of coins and currencies in Indian Doctrine. Initially I have to write a synopsis. Then to go for main stream. This project will take place under Mr. Nataraj Dasgupta, Curator, Central Research & Training Laboratory, Kolkata. I may have to go for British Council, Indian Museums & National Library, Kolkata, to get necessary documents.

Before this, I have a hobby to collect foreign coins very long back. It was no longer continued due to several reasons. Till then, I have coins from Canada, USA, France, Britain, Netherlands and notes from Nepal & Bangladesh. The hobby has lost but the past hobby turned into a big Dissertation and this Dissertation made a huge responsibility.

Movie on Properties of light

In this third semester Prof. Ranjan Parekh (Jadavpur University) gave an assignment to make any movie containing fifteen minutes representation on Macromedia Flash 8. I've wrote a script on Properties of Light.

I've discussed here five properties of light. One can understand easily those properties. This is my first movie of my life. It is 7.33 minute long.

Time with John R. Wennersten

John R. Wennersten  is an historian-journalist currently living on Capitol Hill in Washington. He is Professor Emeritus of American History at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.

He has came Kolkata during July 2012. His recent book Global Thirst is taught here, in MS class. He wanted to capture a photograph with a copy in our group, I had forgotten to bring that copy, and set back behind Sir.   

Reincarnation & understanding

In our MS class the discussion was going over method of understanding in case of children. How they understand, what they interest first and how we can measure those and so on. Grechen Jennings, USA was teaching very interestingly those things. There are so many unknown things came out from by discussion and research.

I was thinking something new, that will make all of us more dynamic.
So I asked that : Madam, do You believe in reincarnation?
Grechen replied being a christian she does not believe in reincarnation.
Then I told her assuming that reincarnation occurs, then why each and every new born human baby should have to teach crawling, walking, swimming etc.

Time with Robert Freidel

Prof. Robert Friedel, Professor History of Technology & Science, University of Maryland, had came last year in N.C.S.M., Kolkata.

He spent one full month with our group. The adjacent figure shows Prof. R. Friedel with MS Science Communication 2011 which is the most successful batch ever entered. We have spent a nice time with SIR.

Developmental Design of exhibit Tornado in NCSM, Kolkata

I have theoretically calculated the developmental design of Tornado exhibit in NCSM, Kolkata. There is a small exhibit called Tornado. It is a very well known exhibit all over India by NCSM,Kolkata. At the bottom, there is an arrangement of keeping water in contact with humidifier. This humidifier moisturizes water and a fan of fixed r.p.m. on the top creates rotation of that moisture.

By developing that exhibit I have introduced an equation of motion and came to the conclusion that if the entrance opening of the moisture be increased then it will be more prominent than it is.
